Commencement Day
2013 Spring Commencement Speakers
Delivering the undergraduate address is U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss (BBA '66). Chambliss was first elected to Congress in 1994 to represent Georgia's 8th District. He was re-elected to a second term in the Senate in 2008. The Graduate ceremony speaker is Stephen L. Hajduk (BS '78), Professor and Department Head, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The Hajduk laboratory is mainly interested in the molecular biology and biochemistry of trypanosomes, the causative agent of a human African sleeping sickness.

For the comfort of families and guests
The following suggestions may make the Undergraduate Commencement ceremony more enjoyable:
- Dress for the heat; light clothing is advisable
- Hats, visors, and sun block are recommended
- You may wish to bring your own water
- We regret that umbrellas will not be permitted, as they would block the view of other guests
- Smoking is prohibited inside both Sanford Stadium and Stegeman Coliseum
- In the interest of all guests, no large items, such as banners and posters, or amplification equipment, such as bullhorns or megaphones, will be allowed. No alcohol is permitted at any of the ceremonies
Photography
Cameras and video recorders are permitted inside Sanford Stadium and Stegeman Coliseum for all graduation ceremonies. However to avoid blocking the view of others, guests are not permitted on the stadium field or the coliseum floor during the events. Only approved photographers are allowed in these areas.
Working media
Photographers authorized to be on the stadium field and/or coliseum floor are free to roam in student seating areas but not on stage during ceremonies. They also are not permitted to block or impede the processional or recessional. Business or business casual attire is required for all photographers. For all other media inquiries please contact Stephanie Schupska (print) or Pete Konenkamp (broadcast).
