"The Arch," an iron gate found on everything from the UGA logo to t-shirts is representative of the Arch on campus which was an original gateway to the school. Legend has it that if a freshman walks under The Arch during the first year, he or she will never graduate.

Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication

- Attending Convocation is free but tickets are required for family members and friends. Each student will receive up to four tickets with the possibility of more two days before the event. Ticket information will be sent to students via Grady listserv in early December. 

- Check-in will be from 9 - 9:30 a.m. at Hodgson Concert Hall. All students wishing to participate in the ceremony must arrive for check-in before 9:30 a.m.

- Candidates for graduation will be required to R.S.V.P. (no need for guests). R.S.V.P details and dates will be announced via Grady listserv.

The SPIA December Graduation Reception is a drop-in at Candler Hall. A light lunch buffet and refreshments will be served. Please RSVP by December 10 Lauren Ledbetter.

Tickets are required.  Each student will receive five tickets during the senior dinner and exit interview on Dec. 9th.  The ceremony will be followed by a catered dessert reception.  Cap and gown are not typically worn.

The hour-long ceremony is free, but tickets are required for family members and friends. Ticket information will be emailed to students six weeks prior to graduation. Candidates must RSVP to attend, and cap and gown are required for the ceremony.

College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

Students are asked to arrive at 12:15 p.m. to check-in and form the processional.  The convocation recognizes candidates individually by having them walk across the stage at the Georgia Center's Mahler Auditorium, receive a gift from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Alumni Association, and have a picture taken with their department head and Dean.  Academic regalia (cap and gown) is encouraged.
